Infront of the camera

After graduating the Rudolf Steiner school 2006 in Germany, I moved to New York City.

It was always my dream to live in and be on the main stage of the world, what has always been New York for me. Buying a one way ticket was the beginning to a wonderful journey through adolescence: Manhattan – Queens – Brooklyn; Party, Drugs & Rock’n’Roll.

From walking 10 dogs through Central Park, to rolling Dominican Republic cigars in a shop window down to hosting private vodka parties, I did it all.

Quickly I found my way into the fashion scene by posing in front of the camera. Not being aware of the sum of money I was making, I can proudly say that I wasted a crazy amount living on 5th Ave at least for 6 months. Luckily, the rest I invested into a sweet little Sony SLR camera and a MacBook with Photoshop. Retouching yourself is probably the best school for photoshop which I can recommend.

Strolling through the streets of Tribeca, Soho and the East Village with my model friends happened to be the perfect school of photography. I discovered that learning by doing is one of the most effective ways of developing a skill.

Quickly I realized the knowledge I had received from growing up in a photographer’s studio was invaluable, and started to work as an assistant for well-known fashion photographers.
